Breakfast in a Glass

Monday, July 26, 2010

Can't fathom the thought of eating breakfast? Try this instead.

1 6-oz container low-fat Greek yogurt  or Kroger brand Carbmaster yogurt (almost 3 times the protein of regular yogurt)
1/4 cup fruit juice
1 1/2 cups fruit

1. Blend yogurt and juice until smooth.
2. Add fruit 1/2 cup at a time.
3. Blend until smooth.

  • Try different fruits, juices, and yogurts to make different combinations.
  • Add a scoop of non-fat dry powdered milk or a protein powder for more protein.
  • Want more fiber? Add a serving of Benefiber or Unifiber.
  • Try adding a scoop of peanut butter with plain yogurt, banana and orange juice.
  • Want to add some Omega-3 fatty acids for heart health? Add a teaspoon of ground flax seed.
  • Need a pick me up? Add a scoop of instant coffee or use coffee flavored yogurt.

And remember: breakfast is best when enjoyed within 2 hours of getting up! :)
